CORAZZE
MATTEO PUGLIESE
October 10th – November 25th
“Memory and special effects, powerful physical presences which are also intimately symbolic and otherworldly: these are the explosive ingredients of Matteo Pugliese’s sculpture. A research that combines the plastic lesson of Michelangelo and Bernini with an imagery sourced from comic-books, fantasy movies and video-games, which, in turn, have their roots in the inexhaustible repertoire of ancient mythologies”. (G. Simongini).
Each of Matteo Pugliese’s (Milano 1969) three sculptural series on exhibit elaborate on a common theme: the shield. A shield for protection, but also as a boundary, a shell to break free from.
Curated by Claudio Proietti with a critical essay by Gabriele Simongini.
